The Shallows : Return of The Shark

Seeing a movie like "Jaws" as kid I became fascinated with sharks. I began researching, looking into every Children's Encyclopedia I could find...it was more like an obsession (One of the reasons I did not have a social life). It was obvious, jaws had touched me in some way and I believed that it was going to be long before I felt that way about any Movie again......Not even "Deep Blue Sea"....Nope.Then I saw "The Shallows" recently and I was blown away. This remarkable Survival Thriller directed by Jaume Collet Serra is undoubtedly the best shark Movie i've seen in a long time ,and i've seen a lot.
Its the simple story of a young female surfer played the beautiful Blake Lively, who gets trapped on a rock after she is attacked by a shark on entering its feeding ground unwittingly. With a Cast of just 7 in the entire Movie, the film is a victorious emancipation from the Cliché Shark B Movies, boasting of exquisite Originality, an Originality I haven't seen since "Jaws", Its not just a Story of shark attacks, but one of survival.
Blake lively had a performance that was flawless and Charming . She pulled the audience (me) into the movie with her acting, in other words, I felt what she felt and saw what she also saw.
I personally feel "The Shallows" marks the return of the Shark to Movie theatres worldwide and could possibly do for the swimmers and surfers of this Era what "Jaws" did for them in the 1970s . It's a big 85% rating for me (Trust me, this is a very high rating in my book)...Haba,...the film too much abeg. Now, if you would excuse, I have plans to See this movie for the Third time. Later Folks.

Jared Leto says he shot enough ‘Suicide Squad’ footage for an entire Movie.

Jared Leto isn’t holding back anymore. He after he broke the news that a lot of Joker scenes had been cut for Suicide Squad, he did some other interviews where he sounded a bit annoyed. Now it’s beginning to sound like he’s a little heartbroken over the whole thing. And understandably so!

While promoting Suicide Squad in the UK, Leto appeared on BBC Radio 1 with host Edith Bowman. Leto said that certain scenes that he shot with Margot Robbie that ended up getting cut were some of his favorite work he’s ever done in a movie. He then went on to say that he shot enough footage for them to make an entire Joker movie out of!

think that I brought so much to the table in every scene that it was probably more about filtering all of the insanity, because I wanted to give a lot of options, and I think there’s probably enough footage in this film for a Joker movie,” Leto explained. “If I were to die tomorrow maybe the studio would roll something out.”

That’s really disappointing to hear, considering The Joker got 10 minutes of screen time at the very most in Suicide Squad.

It sounds like Leto felt he was held back a bit by the PG-13 rating, because he was lobbying for it to be rated R, even while they were shooting.

“I always wished this film was rated R, and I had actually said that when we were starting. It felt like if a film was ever going to be rated R it should be the one about the villains,” he said.

You can check out the entire 14 minute interview below. Leto is very open and honest about the whole thing, as you can see from the quotes I covered in this article.

Suicide Squad Breaks Box-office Records

The bad reviews from the critics obviously couldn't stop Suicide Squad from having a massive opening weekend at the box office. It made $135.1 million in North America, which makes it the biggest August opening of all time! Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy held the previous record at just $94.3 million. Suicide Squad also marks a new personal best for Will Smith. Previously his biggest opening was $77.2 million for I Am Legend back in 2007.
Suicide Squad earned another $132 million overseas, which brings it’s worldwide gross to over $267 million. That’s all without the help of China, who has banned the movie from being shown in their country due to its dark tone (which just doesn't make Sense at all )
“It bested anything that we could have expected,” said Jeff Goldstein,  Warner Bros. distribution executive vice president. “The marketing campaign was brilliant and the performances by the cast, starting with Will Smith, Margot Robbie and Jared Leto, were just extraordinary. They’re fun and wicked and fans enjoy it.”
According to a report from The Hollywood ReporterSuicide Squad needs to make around $750 million worldwide to be a success for Warner Bros. With $267 million in the first weekend, and positive word of mouth from fans, it could be on its way!

TRC Review : Independence Day Resurgence

Being a big fan of the 1996 original, I honestly have to say that I wasn't so impressed with this sequel. The movie was just to weak for me. It tried it's best to lift it's self up to the blockbuster status of its predecessor, but failed woefully , and these are the reasons why :
1. I personally think it was not such a good idea putting Liam as one of the movies leads as most of his performances appeared quite cheesy to me.
2. The lady, Jeff Goldblum's Love interest in the Movie is probably the worst actress I have ever seen...WTF!!?? I don't know her name and trust me,...I don't want to.
3. The visual Effects in this movie were so overdone, the were lame. Less is more Emmerich.
4. Action scenes and sequences were overdone, along with the deficiency in heart racing destruction scenes as scene in the first movie.
In a nutshell, "Independence Day : Resurgence" lacked the wonder and awe that engulfed my mind when seeing the first movie. Nothing special was felt after I saw the movie, and that disappointed me a lot. Most Critics praised the movie's humour, but I don't see any reason to. Like every thing else in the movie, "Resurgence" tries to be funny, but fails at that. The Movie was just too fast paced, you are not given time to understand what's going on.
On a lighter note, there are some scenes that I actually found exciting. The scene where the alien queen chases the school bus filled with kids really got my heart pumping a little, even when I knew she would not catch them. The scene gave me a feel of such situations seen in adventure blockbusters of the 90s, in which kids are put in distressing and helpless situations as seen in Speiberg's 1993 Classic "Jurassic Park" with Tim and Lex being attacked by that T-Rex. Ronald Emmerich obviously had a good vision for the movie, ..but...ehhhh......Nah. didn't work for me. Although the movie was not a total failure, I still think that if a sequel to this is being mad, the seriously need to up thier game, like way up.
My TRC rating for this movie is nothing more than 40%.
Oh....and I'm sure after watching this Will Smith be like "Damn,..Thank God I wasn't in that.
